my peers...

every once and a while i find myself relating more to the 1950s national geographic women than to my peers. which in parts i love. and in parts i regret. i need to take advantage of our recent proximity to a Big City and get enrolled in a yoga class. a photography class. i need to start creating forced ways to interact with humans and get a couple hours of time a week away from the farm for the winter.

  2. i´m starting a farm life myself and the only interaction i get is with my husband and our little bub, i´m not close to a big city though, and i think it sounds fun what you say, go take a class and such. btw, the photos of you are gorgeous

  3. I feel that way but not because I live on a farm, though I wish I did. It has more to do with loving my work and also not having tons of community right now. Also being pregnant and caring for a 2 year old. Anyway. I have never been a social person, and it takes work for me to try to interact with other people more. But I do think it is worth it.

  4. ha! paige, i have identical twins and a third and i had the exact same thought. i grew up on a farm and it's a similar isolation. (a little less peaceful, though:) )

  6. We live 45 mins from a "town" and we get out and play tennis here every Saturday! We also have gotten to know the locals, and have made an effort to be social...otherwise we would both go a little batty! Mike and I love the farm but we know its important to be around people. Unfortunately because it is fire season here we can't leave for more than a day at a time! Yoga would be awesome, I miss it!

  7. If you like 1950's National Geographic women, look up Joan Root. Her biography, Wildflower, is unbelievable!

  9. At the risk of sounding kind of creepy since I only just started reading your blog this evening, I totally wish New England wasn't so far away. I feel the same way about people I'm friends with. I try so hard to just get all my city friends to come here and hang out with me and the sheep, but they're too into being normal 21st century 20-somethings. Meh. :(
