is that we run around with our head's cut off. everything needs attention in the sun. everything grows faster with the sun. everything needs water. needs stringing and pruning and harvesting. i'm so very happy for the house cats and dog. they follow the sun through the house onto the back porch. then to the front porch. and now onto the lawn. right by the hammock that we don't have time to sit in. they are wretched creatures for being so still and so sleepy.
we are off in a matter of minutes to our first ever farmer's market. well, our first selling under our own name. it's thrilling. but we've determined that i am a rotten saleslady. so i will help nick set up and make the tablecloth just right and then i have to scram before i give away the farm.
happy weekend. wish us mountains of egg milk and cookie winnings.
good luck! i'm sure it will be lovely! :)
ReplyDeleteGooood luck!
ReplyDeleteWishing you much success at the market.
ReplyDeletep.s. Your photos always make my heart ache in a pretty okay way.
wonderful sunny days...you do them proud.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog so much. I just discovered it via a friend of mine. You're living my and my boyfriend's dream right now! Where in VT are you? We spend summers in Middlebury for my grad school. I have fallen hopelessly in love with VT, and we want to move there to start a farm someday.
ReplyDeleteYour first solo market!! So exciting! I love every single picture in this post. I've made the decision to never visit though. You could never get rid of me!!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! Hope everything went better than you could have hoped for!!!
ReplyDeleteWhich kind of farm do you live on?
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! I hope it was a smashing success!
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful! Best of luck with your sales! I love my farmers market! I bought my first cherries and strawberries of the season! :-)
ReplyDeleteoh sunshine bring goodness down onto every thing your rays touch! Summer time is here and it feels good. I hope the sun shined on your market day. What a great way to see the fruits of your labor, feeding the community.
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing, as always.
Do those strawberries taste as good as they look? Good luck with the farmers market xx
ReplyDeleteoh thank you! it was pretty much as awful as market could be. it poured rain. thunder and lightening right at the start. and so, for the next 2 hours of market we were soaked (no tent for us newbies) and nobody bought a single dozen eggs. we had one kid buy one cookie. BUT we got two new milk customers. i have no intention to ever go back, but nick is already making plans (including a tent) for next friday. the man is unstoppable, no matter how hard i try to be an obstacle :)
ReplyDeleteBummer that it didn't go as well as planned but I'm sure without the bad weather you'll have better results. New reader and your photos are fantastic.
ReplyDeleteDon't let a bad first market get you down, I had a few like that and then they fell in love with us and our products.
ReplyDeleteTalk to everyone, and take some of your amazing pictures of your place, your animals and birds on an information board ....oh and pray for sunshine...it makes everyone happier and more likely to dip into their pockets.
Sue xx
I just discovered your blog thru my daughter. I'm am so attracted to it's simpleness and astounding beauty! I was mesmerized. You are indeed a a true Artist! I love your animals and the way you showed them. It's so honest and true. It's so real!
ReplyDeleteI'm reading backwards, hence the out of date comment... our first farmers' market was a dream, wonderful weather, fabulous customers, we sold out of everything. I remember thinking to myself that this was going to be a walk in the park!
ReplyDeleteOur next farmers' market, our entire stall was blown over backwards, throwing all our produce onto the ground and ruining almost everything. It was humiliating and humbling at the same time and I forced myself to go back if only to regain some self respect. Good luck next week :-)
