you can't get rid of me that easy...

you may note the date. june 1st. i wrote just one month ago that i would do the blog walk of shame and come back for one month. like a basketball player coming out of retirement to play with the harlem globetrotters...yes, exactly like that. but you see...the thing is. i like blogging. i need to just admit that to myself, and get over IT. i like being able to share my day with you. and for some reason you oblige. that you is probably, really, very likely only mom & dad --hi! mom & dad-- but that doesn't change things. for whatever reason you allow me to speak with a total disrespect for punctuation & capitalization. you allow me the excuse to take photos....mainly of piglets. you provide a decidely nonfarm outlet for me, every day. which i cherish. i like the balance i think i may be headed for with blog v. not blog. so...i'm going to keep going for now.

in other news....a little girl was at the farm store last saturday and i overheard her tell her little girl friend that, there is a cowgirl.  yes, little girl, i am a cowgirl. hot damn. now i just need a horse and couple thousand more acres of land.

  2. Last time I checked I am neither of your parents, but I still thoroughly enjoy what you have to say. You have inspired me to think more about the love I have for the countryside and my grandparents' farm. Maybe one day I'll have a pig too...but I'm probably not cut out for the rest of the farm work. Best leave that to you and live it through your blog. Nice to see you're sticking around!

  4. I'm another who would like to point out that you have more readers than just your parents, and one (me) all the way from Illinois! I think your blog is lovely and I'm (selfishly) so happy you've decided to keep at it for your own happiness. Thanks for sticking around and providing a pleasant read every few days!

  5. I agree! Funny enough, this blog is my break from things that are non-farm related. A place I can come and daydream.

  6. Everyday I sit at my computer and the first thing I check is "longest acres" if nothing new is posted my shoulders slump and disappointment nearly finishes me off - the joy when I find pics of you - nick - the farm - the beauty of nature - i get an instant high - it basically makes my day - so am i a total loser - or is this blog just so magnificent that i need it like a drug? Also - the writing! You are so REAL - i think you've busted out - you're become a new freer you. This has blog to book all over it~

  7. as soon as I fire up my computer i check out "longest acres" - then check it again routinely throughout the day - waiting, always waiting, for that next piece of the puzzle - that next piece that it you. you are coming alive in this blog - especially after your absence (which was way too long, but worth the wait) Your pictures move me - your writing makes me chuckle - and say "ohh........" over and over. I loved the sneaking the pic of yourself then owning a bit of narcissism - which we all know is totally the opposite - very clever! keep going - every entry is pure joy!

  14. Your blog is refreshing and fun and not full of fluff. I live in Juneau, AK and my readers like seeing daily musing of an unordinaty life. You blog also embodies that! :))
